Newcomer is leveling up.

We are looking for a creative, self-motivated seller to spearhead partnerships for our summits. You’ll secure sponsorships from top tech companies and venture capital firms to bring our summit business to the next level.

Newcomer hosts the most elite founder-investor gatherings in San Francisco including the Cerebral Valley AI Summit, Breaking the Bank, and Deus Ex Medicina.

These exclusive, invite-only gatherings draw well-known startup CEOs, top partners at major venture firms, and reporters from leading outlets. They’re intentionally intimate — 100–400 people. We’re hosting four similar summits in 2026, plus dinners and smaller meet-ups.

Technology journalist Eric Newcomer founded Newcomer as an independent newsletter in 2020. Today, between full-time employees and regular contractors we’re a team of seven and counting.

We generated more than $2 million in revenue in 2024 and are about to do more than $3 million in 2025. Though we’re small, we’ve built a respected and sought-out startup industry media company that punches above its weight.

So, we’re expanding our team and adding new conferences, which means it’s time to accelerate our sales efforts.

We’re looking for someone who takes a partnerships-oriented approach to event sales.

We work closely with Silicon Valley’s top venture capital firms like Kleiner Perkins, Index Ventures, and Sapphire Ventures, along with major tech companies like Oracle and Samsung, and up-and-coming neoclouds like Iren and Fluidstack. We build custom sponsorship packages, novel networking dinners, and even custom events for the right sponsor.

Your goal will be to consolidate individual sponsorships into a more defined sponsorships program, build new relationships with target companies, and own sponsors’ experiences at our summits.

Separately, we want to embrace enterprise subscription pricing for the newsletter. You’d shepherd that new offering to VC firms and other investors.

You will be a pivotal member of the early team, working closely with the CEO and Business Lead to develop and execute our go-to-market strategy and scale our revenue through closing deals and building strategic partnerships with tech companies, VCs, and the broader startup ecosystem. While you’ll be directly responsible for sales at first, there’s potential to build and manage a small team as we grow.

You will be walking into a ton of goodwill that we’ve built with the venture capital and startup community. We are in growth mode and are overwhelmed by the interest that top-tier Silicon Valley brands have to partner with us.

Help us turn our connections and brand loyalty into a bigger business and even deeper relationships with iconic Silicon Valley institutions.
