$100,000 - $150,000, full-time, remote (SF or NYC preferred)

Newcomer is leveling up.

We’re a fast-growing media and events startup that reports on and convenes the most influential players in tech and venture capital.

We generated more than $1 million in profit off of more than $2 million in revenue in 2024. Though we’re small, we’ve built a respected and sought-out industry media company over the last few years.

Our newsletter is widely read among top venture capitalists and startup founders, and our insider AI events are constantly oversubscribed and buzzy (you can read our recent newsletter post talking about this here).

So, we’re expanding our reporting team as we continue to build a top-tier newsroom and become a mainstay in the tech media ecosystem.

We’re looking for a reporter with the ability to capture the Silicon Valley zeitgeist, a demonstrated track record of getting notable financial scoops, and is hungry for more.

You’ll be the third reporter on our team, alongside Eric Newcomer and Madeline Renbarger. Jonathan Weber, the former editor-in-chief of the Industry Standard and the SF Standard, will be your editor.

There’s a lot to love about this job if you’re ambitious. Your stories will go directly to the inboxes of top tech industry leaders. You can write for people who get it without watering down your stories for a general audience. You will have a chance to experiment with voice. You can write in first person, weigh-in with analysis, and offer your opinion when it’s merited. Ultimately we want someone who is always on the phone with sources.

This is an opportunity to work at the vanguard of business journalism, at a company that is growing quickly, with the freedom to work from anywhere, set your own schedule, and focus on high-quality stories.
